MADA Annual Meeting

This year's Maine Antiques Dealers Association's Annual Meeting is shaping up to be more than just a business meeting.

Those attending the Annual Meeting will gather first at the Rufus Porter Museum located on 67 North High St, Bridgton, ME for a tour of the Museum. Following the tour attendees will be able to view the large murals at the Wales Hamblen Building then meet at the Olde Mill Tavern located at 56 Main Street in Harrison, Maine for lunch and presentations by Linda Carter Lefko and Jane E. Radcliffe authors of the well-know publication - Folk Art Murals of the Rufus Porter School: New England Landscapes 1825-1845.

This book was published in 2011 by Schiffer Books. Folk Art Murals examines wall murals painted by Rufus Porter, Stephen Twombly and Jonathan Poor throughout New England from 1825-1845.

Linda is an artist, teacher and scholar of the historic decorative arts known for her research into many of the historic decorative fields, makes her home in Penn Yan, New York. She has taught and lectured for years on various topics such as historic watercolors, school girl arts, love tokens, wall murals and theorem painting. Linda is co-author of The Art of Theorem Painting, and is currently serving as an advisor to the Rufus Porter Museum.

Jane is a resident of Hallowell, Maine, served the Maine State Museum in a variety of capacities for close to twenty years, currently as an Adjunct Curator. Since 1988, she has been a partner in Museum Research Associates, a firm specializing in the documentation and computerization of historical collections and records. Jane is a member of the Board of Directors of the Rufus Porter Museum.

1:30 Presentations

2:30 Annual Meeting

3:00 Adjourn

The MADA Annual Meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2014 and the cost is $25.00 per person which includes the Museum Tour, Viewing of the Murals, Lunch and Presentations by Jane and Linda. Official Invitations will be in the mail shortly along with lunch menu options.
