Wig Iron

13003 Wig Iron / Curling Iron - Measuring about 10” long, this device was used to curl the hair in a wig or perhaps to curl hair in general. Nutting’s “Furniture of the Pilgrim Century” shows one in illustration 877. The head of the iron consists of two hemispherical shapes of solid iron which would retain heat from the fire for an adequate length of time. 18th to early 19th century.
This is a very rare iron artifact.
