EAPG Pitcher - Portland Glass Co. - Garden of Eden/Lotus Pattern

This is a fabulous Early American Pattern Glass pitcher in the Garden of Eden/Lotus pattern (also known as Lotus with Serpent pattern) by the Portland Glass Company, Portland, Maine in the early 1870's.

The pitcher displays a tree branch shaped handle and an exceptionally clear, intricately designed raised Garden of Eden/Lotus pattern with a touch of whimsy depicted by the sly serpent's head nosing out from between the footed base and the bottom of the pitcher.

This lovely piece is in excellent condition with no repairs, chips or cracks save for a bit of cinder-like material entrained in the glass at the very bottom of the pitcher.

This wonderful Garden of Eden pattern pitcher weighs 2 pounds 10.6 ounces, is 8 ½ inches tall to the top of the pitcher spout; the mouth is 6 ¼ by 5 ¼ inches in diameter and 4 ¼ inches in diameter at the base. This terrific pitcher would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
